The Detroit office of SmithGroup is looking for a Risk Management Coordinatorto join our team.

Working with us, you will:



  • Assist in preparing applications for the corporation's insurance coverage.
  • Make purchasing recommendations and manages various liability, property and specialty insurance policies, including worker's compensation.
  • Provide information and assistance to the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, Associate General Counsel.
  • Manage the company's Legal SharePoint site.
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures for loss prevention and risk control.
  • Assist in the administration of the corporation's identified risk issues.
  • Manage and coordinate with vendors to maintain the corporation's state filings for firm licensure and government reporting systems.
  • Assist with the administration of the Principal Stock Ownership program, business-related claim issues, and providing insurance certificates for company projects.



An ideal candidate has:



  • 3 - 6 years experience in Risk Management or Employee Benefits; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. College degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles, and relevant state and federal regulations related to responsiblity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge in Adobe software.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to set priorities, multitask, and work independently.
  • Sensitivity towards confidential information.

While we may ultimately pay more or less than a posted salary range, at the time of posting the anticipated salary range for this position is $34.13 to $37.50 per hour.
