We are seeking a Machining Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled professional with deep technical expertise in machining processes, including CNC programming, cutting tools, machining methods, and manufacturing optimization. As a Machining SME, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership, identifying and improving operational efficiencies, and delivering the highest quality standards in global machining operations. This role is crucial for driving innovation in machining processes and the growth of our global machining footprint.

In addition to Machining, a successful candidate will understand advanced manufacturing assembly processes. This key focus area will deliver on optimizing manufacturing operations, integrating new technologies, and ensuring the successful design, implementation, and scaling of advanced manufacturing solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, automation, line controls, and process improvement. You will collaborate with cross-functional team s to enhance productivity, improve quality, and reduce costs while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze machining processes and recommend improvements to reduce cycle times, increase precision, and enhance overall efficiency.

  • Develop and implement machining best practices, guidelines, and protocols to ensure consistency and excellence in manufacturing operations

  • Evaluate and implement lean manufacturing principles, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations.

  • Recommend new machining equipment, tools, and technologies for integration into the manufacturing process.

  • Provide regular updates and status reports to management on ongoing projects, milestones, and deliverables

  • Be a change agent driving improved communication and alignment between our corporate NPD teams and manufacturing sites, with an end goal of a concurrent engineering approach

  • Evaluate, propose, and implement improved manufacturing process planning to deliver consistent site readiness within our global NPD programs

  • Drive cultural improvement in PFMEA and Process Control Plans globally

  • Drive global improvements in DFMA process through consistent engagement, training, improved KPIs

  • Work closely with product design teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

  • Lead the integration of new technologies into the manufacturing environment, ensuring that systems are compatible with existing workflows and equipment.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies, such as Industry 4.0 solutions, smart factories, and AI-driven manufacturing, to determine their feasibility and potential impact on operations.

  • Develop, test, and implement new production processes or process modifications to improve product quality and reduce cycle time

  • Identify and eliminate waste, reduce variation, and enhance process flow across manufacturing operations.

  • Maintain a strategic cross-functional mindset and understand how team decisions will impact the entire organization

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Effective change manager with proven ability to quickly establish credibility with different business units, influence project teams, and persuade professionals at all levels

  • Proven experience successfully managing medium to high complexity projects

  • Experience with international work, factories, and teams

  • 10+ years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment, with a strong background in CNC programming, machining operations, and equipment.

  • Experience in a leadership or technical expert role, guiding teams and implementing process improvements.

  • Extensive knowledge of machining processes, tools, and materials, including cutting tool selection, tool wear, and machine calibration.

  • Strong understanding of quality control processes, statistical process control (SPC), and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across multiple departments and with external vendors.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically and strategically.

  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated results and sense of urgency

  • Must demonstrate excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to understand and analyze complex business processes

  • Understanding of line design, manufacturing and lean principles and tools, as well as process and material flow strategies

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Engineering Technology, or equivalent years of directly related experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering in Assembly operations, or experience in product design and proven experience launching new products

  • Experience in Assembly error-proofing, Controls, and Automation

  • Graduate studies preferred in business areas such as Project Management, Finance, Business, or Organizational Studies

  • Ability to handle fast paced and agile culture. Ability to adapt to constant change and competing priorities

  • Travel (domestic and international) will be required up to 50%
