Job Description

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, level one welders weld small assemblies in a limited number of weld types and positions, performing mostly corner welds. Level one welders are certified to 3G as well as to internal certifications. Level one welders perform basic welding operations using TIG (GTAW) mostly on stainless steel.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Weld parts in accordance with drawing requirements.
  • Maintain the welding equipment and welding supplies.
  • Maintain the weld fixtures and tooling.
  • Assemble details for the applicable weld process.
  • Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere to and comply with state and federal law, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policy and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Transfer information and knowledge across shifts as required; Work as a team to ensure completion of product in a timely manner.
  • Clean and maintain work area by supporting 6S program.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Competent skill level with the GTAW, GMAW, SMAW welding methods.
  • Operation of oxy-acetylene and plasma arc equipment.
  • Competency with measuring equipment (micrometers, dial caliper, height gage, tape measure, etc.)
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Must have a strong understanding of how to interpret blueprints, welding specifications and procedures.
  • Capable of operating a forklift and lifting equipment.
  • Knowledge of M2M.
  • Sheet metal Welding, .020"-.125" thicknesses is a must.
  • Experience with Stainless welding (at a minimum)
  • Sheet metal experience is also a huge plus (Deburr, straightening parts, forming parts)
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to setup welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses and maintenance.
  • Ability to determining the kind of tools and equipment required to perform a job.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 0- 2 years Aerospace TIG welding experience.
  • NADCAP Certification experience.
  • Welding certification including MIG/TIG.
