Qualifications:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma/GED.
Licenses or Certifications:
A valid State driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
A valid State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Certification.
A State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance - Firefighter II Certification.
Successfully completed an IAFF/IAFC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within one year prior to the close of the current posting.
Meets physical ability requirements designated by the Cape Coral Fire Department.
Key Responsibilities:
Responds to emergencies with a fire company or rescue unit, and answers medical emergencies as part of an engine company as a basic life support unit, rescue unit, Marine unit or on an advanced life support unit.
Removes, extracts, and rescues persons from danger, recognizes acute symptoms requiring immediate care, and assists in administering life-saving rescue procedures to injured or afflicted persons.
Performs salvage operations including throwing salvage covers, sweeping water, removing debris, and placing smoke ejectors.
Connects hoses to hydrants and pumps, joins hose sections and connects nozzles to hoses, enters burning buildings with or without hose lines, operates nozzles and sprays a stream of water, fog, or foam on fires.
Operates hand fire extinguishers and similar equipment in extinguishing fires; raises and climbs ladders; ventilates burning buildings to remove smoke and gases.
Makes daily inspections of apparatus and equipment and notifies supervisor of defects; performs cleaning and maintenance tasks in and about assigned station.
