The Opportunity

A Scientist 3 position is available in the diversity display lab at Department of Biological Chemistry to work on the development of agonists and antagonists with therapeutic relevance using phage display, yeast display or other display technologies. Activities will include library construction, screening and maintenance of the libraries, protein expression and purification, peptide synthesis/bioproduction and purification, protein structure/function studies and biophysical/biochemical assay development. You will develop, optimize and troubleshoot new procedures.

Who You Are

  • PhD or equivalent employment experience in biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or related field.

  • 0-3 years of research experience in an academic or industry laboratory setting, including wet lab experimentation.

  • Evidence of productivity, such as first authorship of peer-reviewed publications or patents.

  • Ability to keep accurate, complete records and to communicate research findings.

  • Good communication, documentation and organizational skills are also required.

Preferred

  • Preference will also be given to those with expertise in protein chemistry, protein structure/function research and peptide synthesis and purification.

  • Protein (antibody, antibody-like fusion, Fab, ScFv, antigen) purification via chromatography (AKTA PURE, AVANT) and characterization (SDS-PAGE, SEC-MALS, analytic HPLC, MS) experience is highly desired.

  • Experience with flow cytometry a plus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $101,400 - $188,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
