Accounts Payable Lead

What you'll Do:

The Accounts Payable Team Lead is responsible for leading the daily operations and reporting requirements of the Accounts Payable Department. This includes invoice management, data entry, resolving discrepancies and reporting. Assists the AP Supervisor and leads the AP staff in the planning, organizing and controlling process flow and payment obligations and adherence to AP policies and procedures, and serves as backup for AP Supervisor during periods of absence.

• Lead the team: Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentoring for the Accounts Payable team. Deliver clear feedback, support development, and help train staff on processes, systems, and updates.
• Own escalated processing: Manage escalated or urgent invoice processing requests, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time from submission through payment.
• Ensure compliance: Maintain adherence to company policies, procedures, and vendor payment terms. Promote a culture of accountability and accuracy.
• Monitor performance: Oversee aged inquiry emails and other team SLAs, ensuring response times and issue resolutions meet established targets.
• Prepare reports: Compile and present reports on team metrics, AP activities, and process health. Provide meaningful insights for leadership to drive decisions.
• Drive improvements: Assist with testing, feedback, and implementation of new systems, automation tools, and process changes aimed at increasing efficiency.
• Provide support: Respond professionally to internal and external inquiries, delivering excellent service to vendors, employees, and partners.
• Assist with reconciliation: Support vendor account reconciliation efforts as needed, ensuring clarity and resolution on outstanding items.

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years of AP experience with proven ability to manage discrepancies, inquiries, and AP workflows effectively.
• High attention to detail and accuracy, with a track record of delivering quality work.
• Experience providing coaching or informal guidance within a team environment.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, policies, and compliance.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in daily work.
• Clear, professional communication skills and a commitment to strong customer service.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office (especially Outlook and Excel) and willingness to learn and work with automation tools or new systems.
• Ability to adapt to and support change, including training others on new processes or system updates.
