Assists with clinical rotations in both in-patient and out-patient settings as the schedule dictates and participates in after hours and on-call services.

Performs most modalities of adult and/or pediatric echocardiography (i.e. 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging, as well as, assists with qualified physician with TEE procedures). Perform advanced cardiac imaging, structural heart procedure or research studies. Performs lab procedures using independent judgement during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings. Exams must follow IAC approved scanning protocol and the Smart Protocols must be utilized when possible. Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians. Rotates to multiple lab locations as scheduled and required by the IAC. Participates in the daily workflow by watching the sonographer worklist to ensure timely patient care. Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable. Participates in the Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules. Operates all lab testing equipment and software packages including but not limited to ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS. Proficient in the use of telephone, printers, and fax machines. Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service. Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen. Maintains up to date maintenance logs to include the monthly cleaning log and the equipment down time log. Attends staff and departmental meetings as well as educational conferences. Participates in the discussions. Keeps abreast of changes in the field and participates in collecting data, images and articles as necessary. Must be trained at a minimum of three cardiac locations and float as needed. Acts as a clinical preceptor and trains cardiac sonographers and students. Participates in gathering information for monthly QI meetings and assists in presentations as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Education - Associate' degree. Graduate of a formal radiology or sonography program Experience - Two (2) years of echo sonography experience performing non-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies plus advance imaging, structural heart, or research studies. 1 year of pediatric experience if non- pediatric registered. Clinical rotations during a formal educational program may be considered as experience.
In Lieu Of
In Lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, five years of dedicated echo lab experience. Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may be grandfathered from obtaining required registration pending state and regulatory requirements.
