Position Summary:

Children's Aid seeks a strategic, forward-thinking Vice President of Financial Systems to modernize and enhance the organization's financial technology infrastructure. This leader will drive system improvements, oversee process automation, and manage the Accounts Payable function in coordination with the Controller. This role requires a hands-on approach to improving financial reporting, workflow efficiency, and data accessibility across the agency.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Systems Oversight & Modernization



  • Lead and implement technology initiatives for the Finance team to streamline financial operations.
  • Spearhead research, selection, and implementation of a new General Ledger (GL) system/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, ensuring it meets the agency's evolving needs.
  • Develop and automate comprehensive reports including Revenue, Accounts Receivable (AR), Temporarily Restricted Net Assets, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Activities using advanced report writer tools.
  • Champion process automation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across all financial systems.
  • Train and support Finance staff in utilizing new systems, running reports, and optimizing information dissemination.


Accounts Payable (AP) Leadership:



  • Oversee the end-to-end Accounts Payable function, including the processing of electronic payments, checks, and credit card transactions in coordination with the Controller.
  • Manage the organizational credit card program, ensuring proper analysis, distribution, and control.
  • Assess and introduce advanced AP and credit card platforms to streamline and automate workflows.
  • Directly supervise the Accounts Payable team, providing guidance, performance management, and professional development.


Financial Reporting & Controls:



  • Collaborate with the senior Finance team to produce accurate and timely monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements for organizational analysis and distribution.
  • Develop and maintain staffing and position control schedules to support financial planning and decision-making.


Candidate Qualities:



  • Superior attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to mentor and develop junior finance team members.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency with advanced functions.
  • Eagerness to adopt and integrate new technologies, systems, and process improvements.
  • Strong analytical mindset with an aptitude for financial variance analysis.
  • Ability to absorb complex technical information and translate it into practical applications for team training and organizational benefit.
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to manage and prioritize competing demands.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and professional development.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant financial systems experience, preferably within a non-profit or government-funded environment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, including direct staff management and performance oversight.
  • Knowledge of applications such as VBA, Macros, SQL, and report writers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel and fund accounting systems.
  • Experience with complex systems implementations.
  • Prior experience with non-profit organizations and government agency funding is a plus.
