GW's Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine ( MITM) conducts innovative, fundamental, basic, and translational research for HIV/ AIDS and neglected tropical diseases. MITM has a strong tradition of training and policy advocacy for these infectious diseases, which initiate and perpetuate poverty and suffering worldwide. This Senior Research Support position contributes to research/development by assisting with experiments in a controlled laboratory setting.

The core responsibilities of this position include assisting with data collection and administration of experimental procedures, making detailed observations, and assisting senior level researchers analyze data and interpret results. This role may compile routine results, may contribute to technical reports and documentation of outcomes, and assists with the preparation of results for publication. This role has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field, and performs activities similar to those of a Research Assistant but is more experienced and independent. This position will also be working on the analysis of large RNA sequencing data in collaboration with senior staff in the lab.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Galaxy to analyze RNA sequencing data.
  • Competency in FowJo software for flow cytometry analysis of splenocytes.

Hiring Range $17.95 - $29.32
