JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Learn greenhouse environmental control system, program irrigation and evaluate alarms.
Provide support for activities related prefilling pots/tray for propagation using automated pot-filling machine.
Regularly perform greenhouse operations maintenance and upkeep: clean floors, keep work area tidy, organize supplies, perform hose/nozzle checks, and clean components of evaporative cooling system.
Support greenhouse research by contributing to set-up and take-down activities: preparing custom soil mixes using cement mixers, pot-filling by hand, install irrigation, work collaboratively for data collection, and remove and clean irrigation emitters post experiment.
Create and contribute to development of greenhouse operation protocols.
Routine and regular functionality check and troubleshooting of the greenhouse chambers, equipment, light rack and greenhouse chamber bulbs and waste.
Regularly drive work truck between sites and off-site in order to transport plant material and supplies.
Attend and participate in group and project meetings.
Provide timely and frequent communication regarding any updates, changes, or issues that arise.
Follow good sanitation practices and standard operating procedures and adhere to all safety and company policies.
Interest in greenhouse operations, plant propagation and irrigation.
High attention to details and prioritizes tasks efficiently.
Willing to receive Ag Worker Training and Pesticide Handler Training in order to work with or around pesticides.
Strong organizational, observational and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-project team environment and collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals, as well as work independently.
Work in a greenhouse, outdoor field, and laboratory setting, sometimes in physically demanding, adverse conditions.
Subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and lifting materials.
Knowledge of basic math skills and experience with Microsoft office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point).
Must work independently and unsupervised on weekends and some holidays.
