DevOps Architect

Comerica Bank is seeking an experienced Domain Architect to lead the evolution of our DevSecOps capabilities. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our CI/CD platform as we transition from Jenkins to a leading edge GitLab solution, modernizing our development workflows and enhancing automation, scalability, and security. As a Domain Architect, you will be the end-to-end subject matter expert for architectural frameworks, design patterns, and tools within the DevSecOps domain. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and heavily engage with application teams to define and implement a strategic roadmap to adopt the new CI/CD solution.

Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Architecture Leadership



  • Lead the architectural design and strategic planning for the DevSecOps domain, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.
  • Define and enforce best practices for secure software development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and operations teams to integrate security into every phase of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to support the DevSecOps strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and operations teams.
  • Communicate architectural decisions and roadmaps to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve Comerica's DevSecOps capabilities.


Solution Design and Development



  • Drive the migration of CI/CD pipelines from Jenkins to GitLab, focusing on automation, traceability, and developer experience.
  • Design end-to-end solutions in partnership with application teams to adopt pipelines.
  • Ensure seamless integration between enterprise systems and the Gitlab platform.


Compliance and Risk Management



  • Ensure policy as code is considered in the pipeline design that is focused on Banking and Financial Services regulatory requirements.
  • Design architectures with robust data security and privacy measures.


Governance and Standards



  • Establish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and best practices for DevSecOps.
  • Conduct architecture reviews to ensure consistency with enterprise goals.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineering teams.



Position Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering or in a Technology related field, OR equivalent through a combination of education and/or technology experience, OR 12 years of technology experience
  • 8 years of architecture experience
  • 8 years of experience leading large, complex/critical technology projects
  • 8 years of experience influencing strategy for large organizations
  • 6 years of experience leading and mentoring others
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Must have indefinite employment authorization.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles, cloud-native architectures, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and AWS cloud.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • AWS and Gitlab Certifications
  • Banking or highly regulated industry experience
  • Java based application development experience
  • Experience in SRE, SDLC, Security, or Operations is a plus
