RSM US LLP is looking for a dynamic Pursuit Strategist (proposal writer) to join the team, with a specific focus on supporting our public sector and government practice.

NOTE: This position is remote eligible - candidate may sit anywhere within the United States.

The Pursuit Strategist (proposal writer) will play a critical role in ensuring the successful submission of high-quality proposals for public sector and government opportunities. This role involves collaborating with pursuit teams and other stakeholders to create high-impact proposals that meet the prospect's requirements and highlights the strengths of the firm. The Pursuit Strategist develops targeted, brand-compliant messaging that positions the firm to win new business and differentiate itself in the marketplace. Additionally, the Pursuit Strategist appropriately utilizes project management tools and principles, serving as primary writer and quality assurance reviewer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate with pursuit teams and SMEs to gather necessary information, draft compelling proposal content, and oversee the formatting and finalization of proposal documents.
  • Engage the team in discussions about win themes, value propositions, firm differentiators and other strategic messaging.
  • Maintain clear communication with the pursuit team regarding pursuit-development progress.
  • Driving proposal timeline and proposal compliance matrix, leading color team reviews, including outstanding items required for timely completion.
  • Draft original content and provide substantive edits based on the firm's style, brand guidelines, and approved sources of information.
  • Review final production materials to ensure that message quality, format, design and content meet the stated objectives and are consistent with firmwide strategy and communication guidelines.
  • Manage document production or ensure a smooth handoff to administrative personnel for printing.
  • Support the Communications, Marketing and Growth (CMG) team's future vision by collaborating with industry and line of business SME's, as well as the firm's Growth Acceleration Teams (GATs) to surface, prioritize and fill gaps in related modular pursuit content, advance digital pursuit impressions, and actively support the top strategic pursuits for the firm.
  • Maintain CRM and pursuit log with key information, upload completed documents and follow up with pursuit lead regarding outcomes.
  • Take active role in various North American Pursuit & Proposal Team (NPPT) work streams, initiatives and projects, as assigned by NPPT leadership, to improve enterprise proposal quality and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or English preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Advanced Microsoft 365 skills
  • Familiarity with use of AI in proposals
  • In-depth understanding of Associated Press style required
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written with diverse audiences
  • Detail-oriented; productive without compromising quality

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3-5 years (preferred) of increasing responsibility and substantive and demonstrable business writing experience, including the development of proposals in a professional services environment
  • Preferred experience writing governmental proposals and knowledge of government procurement processes
  • Preferred use to proposal automation tools

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Must be able to independently multi-task and prioritize to meet daily deadlines and capable of operating in a face-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage internal client expectations
  • Flexibility in availability to ensure internal stakeholders' deadlines are met

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $72,100 - $118,800

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
