Job Title: Accountant/ Accounting Specialist (Finance/ Grants)
Pay rate: $26.50/hr. on W2 without benefits.
Location:14 Harrington Rd, Cranston, RI, 02908
Duration: 6+ Months
Hours/week: 35hrs
Shift timings: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Role & Responsibilities:
- Enter and manage Accounting Document Identifiers (ADIs) and time tracking journals within the financial system.
- Assist in the preparation and review of manual journal entries and allocations required for fiscal close.
- Support cost allocation processes by providing documentation, data entry, and reconciliation support.
- Track, monitor, and organize journal entries to ensure they are complete, accurate, and timely.
- Assist with Medicaid coding, data verification, and reporting compliance.
- Support federal grant drawdowns, tracking of grant expenditures, and assisting with documentation for audits and reporting.
- Organize, manage, and maintain SharePoint files related to cost accounting, grants, and journal entries.
- Provide general support during fiscal year-end close, including reconciliations, documentation preparation, and coordination with internal teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting, fiscal operations, or grants management-preferably in a government or public sector setting.
- Familiarity with cost accounting and federal/state grant compliance is strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of SharePoint and ERP/financial systems.
- Experience with Medicaid programs, cost allocation plans, or federal claiming processes is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Required Skills:
- 2 years of Experience in accounting.
- 2 years of Experience in Fiscal/ Financial operations.
- 2 years of Experience in Grants management.
