FTE: 1, Shift: Day , Schedule: 40 Position Summary The Coder is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Accurately codes conditions and procedures as documented in the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting for hospital department and clinics.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assigns appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes. 2. Acts as a coding resource for team members as well as medical staff, ensuring coding practices fall within the established compliance guidelines for ICD-9, and CPT codes, as well as ICD-10. 3. Accurately enters data for billing to be generated as well as effectively utilizes computer software programs for encoding. 4. Assists in implementing solutions to reduce back-end billing errors. 5. Maintains up to date knowledge to function and operate with current trends and coding regulatory guidelines. 6. Identifies opportunities for improving operating efficiencies and utilizing resources. 7. Participates in coding audits to assess accuracy and evaluate opportunities for improvement. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Coder III: Minimum three years coding experience preferred. Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $23.67 - $34.06 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
