Sonoma Water - Safety and Training Administrator

Salary: $107,632.78 - $130,841.55 Annually

Bring your administrative, safety, and training skills to the County of Sonoma Water Agency (Sonoma Water) as a Safety and Training Administrator!

 

Sonoma Water is seeking a dynamic, solution-oriented administrative professional with health and safety experience to implement and maintain department-wide safety initiatives and facilitate the development of operation-specific safety programs. The Safety and Training Administrator will oversee the Safety Committee at Sonoma Water, collaborating closely with managers and supervisors from all divisions to maintain safety compliance. Additional responsibilities will include:

• Providing input and developing standard operating procedures, as related to safety regulations and Sonoma County Water Agency Policy

• Investigating and addressing workplace safety issues and performing department safety audits and inspections

• Advising management on safety program development strategies

• Ensuring compliance with OSHA, Cal OSHA, the EPA, and local/state safety regulations while aligning training with established standards and documentation requirements

• Developing and conducting training programs for managers, supervisors, and employees

 

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience delivering trainings and will be a subject matter expert in safety training development. They will also possess many of the following:

• An in-depth understanding of occupational hazards and modern safety practices, along with familiarity with safety regulations and best practices specific to water and wastewater operations (e.g., confined space entry, trenching and excavation, chemical storage and handling, and/or lockout/tagout)

• Demonstrated project management experience, including management of cross-functional teams and development of training programs

• Experience working within a water or wastewater utility or other public works environment

• Proficiency in both oral and written communication, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, conduct training sessions, and interact effectively with employees, other departments, and public agencies

• Knowledge of OSHA/CAL OSHA standards and regulations, particularly California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 8, or previous experience in safety or risk management

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with safety management software and training tracking tools (e.g., Learning Management Systems or document control platforms)
