The successful candidate:

Schedule: Alternating Weeks

  • Week 1: Five 8-hour shifts with 2 days off

  • Week 2: Four 10-hour shifts with 3 days off

  • Days off will vary based on shift coverage needs

Position Summary:

The Senior Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all patients, staff, volunteers, visitors, students, equipment, and property at COH, Chicago. This role requires a proactive and professional approach to maintaining a secure healthcare environment and responding to incidents with sound judgment and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and secure hospital premises through regular patrols and surveillance.

  • Respond to incidents involving physical violence or active threats.

  • Document all incidents through detailed report writing, including:

    • Lost and found

    • Alarms

    • Disruptive or unruly individuals

    • Vandalism, theft, or other security concerns

  • Collaborate with hospital staff and emergency responders as needed.

  • Support and mentor junior security officers as a senior team member.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver's License

Certifications (Required or Obtainable):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (CPR/AED) within 6 months of hire

  • Eligibility to carry a concealed firearm under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) of 2004, or ability to obtain eligibility through the State of Illinois within 90 days of hire

  • Maintain current firearms qualification under LEOSA

  • Maintain a valid Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) Card (Illinois residents only)
