Reporting directly to the Purchasing Supervisor, the MRO Buyer is responsible for planning, executing, the procurement and distribution of all maintenance spare parts inventory following standard duties for all aspects of purchasing, including maintaining inventory, cost control, purchase order processes and vendor management. This position will also assist the Purchasing team with day-to-day purchasing activities and function.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred, or equivalent experience

Kind & Length of Experience:

  • Three to Five years' experience operating and purchasing maintenance parts and equipment storeroom in a manufacturing environment
  • Three to Five years' experience with placing and managing purchase orders
  • Experience leading team meetings and periodic reviews
  • Experience managing vendors and requesting quotes
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to create reports and presentations
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and time management skills
  • Ability to squat, sit, stand, walk, reach and lift up to 50 lbs as needed to perform all job functions
  • Proficient in MS office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Experience working within CMMS and ERP systems preferred
PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS
  • Manage MRO storeroom consisting of more than 3000 maintenance parts and equipment
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to evaluate and set min/max stocking levels and inventory reorder points
  • Update and follow procedures for adding, ordering, updating, and eliminating storeroom items
  • Drive process improvement to create procedural efficiencies
  • Source parts, equipment and supplies at cost efficiency without compromising maintenance relatability or quality
  • Manage vendor quotes for parts, equipment, and supplies.
  • Optimize the current CMMS system to maintain accurate inventory information
  • Place purchase orders based on replenishment reports, usage, plant requests, and work order commitment
  • Receive maintenance inventory deliveries into CMMS system
  • Ensure proper maintenance of open purchase orders and purchase order requests
  • Communicate lead time, pricing, backorder, or delivery date changes to maintenance team
  • Develop and foster key internal and vendor relationships
  • Implement creative processes to mitigate risk of operational delays
  • Perform inventory reconciliation of MRO designated inventory
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of dead inventory with maintenance team and return parts to vendors when necessary
  • Interact with the Accounts Payable department when resolving vendor invoice/purchase order discrepancies
  • Work with maintenance and operations to identify products and vendor alternatives/substitutes for achieving cost savings.
  • Assist in the new vendor setup process by reviewing required documents
  • Monitor vendor's product, pricing, and delivery accuracy. Obtain corrective actions as necessary.
  • Create monthly inventory reports, outlining inventory value, age, and turns
  • Handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision under challenging conditions.
