CJE SeniorLife Weinberg Community for Senior Living is a premier assisted living campus in Deerfield that provides a warm, supportive environment with engaging life enrichment opportunities to enhance the lives of its residents. We help those who require care for rehab, dementia and long-term assistance. We are part of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.

Under supervision of Weinberg Staff, the Music Instructor will create, plan, and implement programs and activities using music to help individuals who are experiencing physical, psychological, emotional, and mental challenges. Serves residents and clients diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias living in and/or participating in a memory care community.

Compensation: $28.00/hr, 20 hours per week

This is an on-site role.

What You'll Do

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Facilitate music-based group programs for older adults with a range of age-related needs.
  • Participate in care plan meetings and support groups, as needed, and contribute relevant observations.
  • Serve as a resource to the care team by providing music-based experiences that support resident care goals.
  • Plan and lead individual and group music sessions based on assessed client needs.
  • Develop and implement engaging activities (large group, small group, and one-to-one) aligned with resident needs and interests.
  • Develop and lead one-to-one music lessons in piano, guitar, or voice.
  • Support the coordination and oversight of volunteers, as needed.
  • Contribute to additional programming and special events, as requested.

$28.00/hr

Who You Are

Education




  • Bachelor's Degree




Experience



  • At least 2 years' experience in a professional music setting (e.g., teaching private or group lessons; leading ensembles/choirs; performing; or facilitating music programs).
  • Experience working with older adults (e.g., caregiving, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, adult day services) preferred.


Other



  • Experience or interest in program development and implementation of Music Programs.
  • Skilled in evaluating effectiveness of interventions and working within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
