5:00AM - 3:30PM Monday-Friday; OT as needed

Pay: The hourly pay rate for this position is $17.51 + benefits. This information is specific to Colfax, NC and may not be applicable to other locations.

What your day in this role might involve at OC Colfax:

The primary purpose of this position is to safely perform the necessary job duties associated with the operation of the Finger Joint machine. This includes but is not limited to feeding, tailing, learning and assisting operator during changeovers and chopping cutbacks. This is a versatile position within the finger jointer and requires organizational and communication skills and a growing knowledge of all sizes and grades of finger joint blocks and blanks.

• Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Must abide by all safety processes in the rough mill. Must always wear proper PPE. Must ensure that all guarding is in place and good condition before executing any task.
• Must gain knowledge of the entire finger joint production process and associated machinery.
• Must strive to achieve maximum lug loading efficiency.
• Must maintain constant communication and take direction from the rough mill lead, machine operators, and supervision.
• Must be self-motivated and be able to perform the duties of this position without close supervision.
• Must maintain excellent housekeeping skills.
• Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.

What makes a successful OC Colfax team member:

Must haves include...

• Completion of the 10th grade and be at least 18 Years Old
• Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Able to read a tape measure and calipers

Would be terrific if you also had...

• Preferably one year experience in a manufacturing setting

  • Work independently, as well as part of a team, and have flexibility
  • Show initiative, be a self-starter, and be able to train and coach others

There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:

• Lift 35lbs
• Stand for 10 hours straight
• Climb and descend stairs as needed for the role
• Do repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg; bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lift, push and pull 35-pounds)
• Withstand heat up to 95 degrees; sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
• Be exposed to wood dust and aluminum with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent.
• Handle, control and feel raw materials and finished goods
