Overview

Maintenance Technicians assist Mechanical Engineers in designing, testing, perfecting and maintaining products, machinery and equipment. The Maintenance Technician is the first one called when a machine starts to malfunction. They are a Solid Phase essential tool that keeps a machine running. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for knowing the ins and outs of their machines. Responsibilities include maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical and hydraulic powered equipment. Skill level requirements vary from basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to component replacement.

Responsibilities
  • Performs task and administrative aspects of the operations according to department procedures, specifications or work instructions (job orders), including starting up and breaking down operations, clearing operation areas, calculating component usage, verify counts of products in and out of operations, visual inspection of product for defects (25% of assigned tasks),
  • Operates and maintains department equipment which may includes Oyster Bay equipment, computers, printers, refrigerators, trolleys, and carts according to department specifications (45% of assigned tasks)
  • Identifies and troubleshoots incorrect performance of department equipment (5% of assigned tasks),
  • Moves, stores and inventories product and solid phase supplies according to department specifications (10% of assigned tasks),
  • Reads thermometers, recording charts and gauges as specified by department procedures (5% of assigned tasks).
  • Understands source of products and associated chemical and biosafety hazards (5% of assigned tasks).
  • Responsible for training on all procedures assigned. Ability to be crossed trained to assist in other production areas or departments as needed.
  • Maintain an organized and clean workspace.
  • Creates a team work environment for the staff in Support of Management direction and decisions.
  • Demonstrate supportive behaviors towards co-workers across shifts, departments and job descriptions.
  • Actively participates in the training of new employees.
  • Additional duties or responsabilities may be assigned in addition to the support od daily operations.
  • Leads by example on the shop floor by executing production activities and coaching technicians on the proper SOP's and practices.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalent
  • Ability to speak, read and write english
  • Ability to work irregular hours as necessary to meet production schedules, assigned work shift, and occasional overtime, preferred
  • One year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
