GENERAL SUMMARY

The Materials Coordinator (Flow Coordinator) is responsible for developing, monitoring, and responding to signals to ensure that inventory and WIP are being picked and delivered to support efficient operations. The position will work to eliminate the loss of production downtime due to poor workflow.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Execute deliverables in support of the supply chain in accordance with the objectives of the Company.
  • Organize, develop, and lead a program that places the right material to the right place and at the right time.
  • Review signals (both electronic and manual/visual) to assist in the coordination of product and component movement to ensure minimal disruptions to the manufacturing flow.
  • Analyze metrics supporting supplier critical issues or sufficiently plan resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Production Managers/employees to satisfy work requirements.
  • Coordinate the release of work orders in a timely manner and perform transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balances.
  • Eliminate loss of production downtime due to internal flow throughout the facility.
  • Ensure efficient flow of material through assigned value streams by coordinating and responding to triggers/signals within the process. Signals include system, physical, and visual events/items.
  • Coordinate with other Material Coordinators to ensure proper levels of WIP are maintained.
  • Summarize critical issues with resolution and communicate with operations leadership to ensure expedited jobs stay on agreed-upon timelines. Be a change agent and drive out waste and lead time throughout the material flow operations.
  • Communicate, where appropriate, to internal customers on the status of projects or high-visibility jobs.
  • Communicate with appropriate resources when problems arise affecting on-time delivery of materials to department and/or adherence to schedule.
  • Participate actively as a team member through continuous improvement and LEAN activities.
  • Perform other responsibilities/duties as apparent or assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma and two years post-high school certificate in a related field.
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience - knowledge of DeZURIK operations preferred.
  • Proficient with computers and DeZURIK systems (NetSuite, WMS).
  • APICS certified a plus.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to communicate and work effectively with different levels and functions within the organization.
  • Skilled in the use of computers and software.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of production processes.
  • Good communication skills, written and oral.
  • Characteristics: ability to multi-task; process-oriented; organized; handle stress; assertive; team player; detail oriented; ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances and have the ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
  • Position requires movement around the facilities.
  • Factory floor support is imperative.
  • Occasional handling of material and components.



WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
