Rotational Analyst, Operations

Chatham Financial
United States, Pennsylvania, Kennett Square
235 Whitehorse Lane (Show on map)
Apr 16, 2025

Overview:

Chatham Financial is a unique global financial services provider that takes a creative and holistic approach to developing our team members. When you work at Chatham, we empower you - offering professional development opportunities to help you grow in your career, no matter if you've been here for five months or 15 years. Chatham has worked hard to create a distinct work environment that values people, teamwork, integrity, and client service. You will have immediate opportunities to partner with talented subject matter experts, work on complex projects, and contribute to the value Chatham delivers every day.

Role Opportunity:

The Operations Rotational Development Program offers a 2-year experience where analysts rotate through 3-4 teams, gaining exposure to a range of experiences across the company's external client-facing and internal stakeholder-driven operational functions before placement in a permanent role.

At Chatham, success can come from either breadth or depth of knowledge, and throughout your career you will experience some variety in the clients you serve and/or the functions you perform. This program front-loads some of that variety into the early years at Chatham to help give newer hires a well-rounded development experience, while also giving the operations platform flexibility in allocating resources to the areas of greatest impact. In performance reviews and team discussions, you'll hear a lot about aligning individual skills and aptitudes, individual desires and goals, and needs of the business. We believe that the intersection of these three areas is where we'll have the most productive and fulfilled employees, and where we'll achieve the greatest impact.

Rotational areas may include Customer Support, Data Operations, Controls & Data Integrity, Models Mission Control, Client Implementations, and Transaction Operations. The program is designed to offer participants a way to gain exposure to various operations supporting world-class delivery of financial services, while contributing to the most critical operational needs of the company.

Responsibilities:

While the specific responsibilities of an Analyst vary based on their current rotation or placement, below is a description of the teams you may be placed on throughout the program:

  • Customer Support: The Client Support Team is the first point of contact for many of our largest clients, taking the lead in answering their questions and solving functional issues within the platform. For technical or advisory related issues, the Support Team member will coordinate with the appropriate Chatham employees to deliver timely resolutions. Front-end support and client satisfaction are the primary focus, while process improvement and internal communication are strong secondary focuses.
  • Data Operations: Focusing on domains including valuation, debt management, and debt capital markets, this team requires exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in data, and good analytical skills with the ability to review and extract data from various types of real estate source documents.
  • Controls & Data Integrity: CDI ensures all derivative transaction details are in Chatham's systems accurately and as agreed upon at execution. Data entry errors can have significant consequences to the economics of the transaction or to their accounting treatment, and it is therefore critical that team members understand transaction-related market conventions, payments, and valuations.
  • Models Mission Control: The MMC team is critical to our month-end and quarter-end processes to provide accurate and timely client valuations deliverables. Additionally, they provide internal and external triage support for our models and data management in a way that scales and limits the resource draw on our Analytics/Quants team members as well as our client-facing teams.
  • Client Implementations: Responsible for working directly with ChathamDirect clients to ensure consistent implementation of new services, data integrations between clients and third parties, and using data to proactively drive a better user experience.
  • Transaction Operations: This team sits with our trading desks and specializes in documentation and process management for interest rate, currency, and commodity transactions; the purpose of the role is to continuously improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of our hedging operations as we serve clients with excellence before and after transactions are executed.

Contributors to Success:

Chatham maintains an entrepreneurial culture that rewards teamwork and innovation. We seek individuals who are natural leaders and have a desire and ability to learn quickly while aligning to our core values. While no specific professional experience or certifications are required, we look for candidates who display the following competencies:

  • Communication: Ability to communicate across internal teams, as well as with external clients to effectively resolve client issues. This includes collaborating across teams to seek out knowledge and partner with stakeholders to create a seamless client experience.
  • Process Scalability: Ability to quickly learn existing processes while seeking out ways to solve underlying problems more effectively or improving the efficiency and repeatability of effective processes.
  • Detail Orientation: Ability to work with large or complex sets of data with a high attention to detail in order to ensure data is accurate and is being leveraged in ways that drive better outcomes.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel. Experience with additional tools (e.g., SQL, Microsoft Power Tools such as Power BI, Power Query and Power Automate) is a plus. Ability to learn new tools and technologies as required.

Requirements:

We're looking for curious, collaborative, and driven individuals who are excited to learn and grow in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. While we don't expect you to know everything on day one, we do look for the following qualities and experiences:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (or expected completion) in finance, economics, business, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of work experience, ideally in an operational, financial, or analytical setting (internships, co-ops, or part-time work are all valuable!).

Training and Development:

This role offers recent graduates and early career analysts a comprehensive learning experience, providing a solid foundation for a career in financial services and capital markets through a blend of structured learning paths and hands-on mentorship.

Our Analysts attend Chatham's New Hire Academy which provides them with early exposure to senior leaders and SMEs throughout the organization, focusing on improving their speed to proficiency by developing the knowledge, skills, and relationships needed to be successful. It is a combination of online learning resources, debriefs, and in-person workshops with your cohort.
