GENERAL PURPOSE
The Financial Manager will be Involved in specialized finance-related activities in support of multiple projects, functions and/or business units and product lines. This individual will support various areas/departments of the organization. Prepares fundamental analyses and research to generate data for inclusion in financial forecasts and projections. Typically, assignments provide exposure to fundamental financial concepts, issues and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with Management to provide strategic guidance and sound business decision support through proper financial analysis, collaboration and critical thinking.
  • Conducts activities in accordance with GAAP and established MillerKnoll guidelines.
  • Confers with leadership and internal business partners on unusual issues/situations and in identifying reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates /oversees and liaisons with MillerKnoll finance, both domestic and international.
  • Develops and implements work strategies to achieve desired results.
  • Familiar with spending designations on capital and expense, understands depreciation/amortization rules, and has sound understanding of accruals.
  • Influences business decisions by effectively forecasting, preparing and presenting financial forecasts.
  • Leverages extensive internal/external contacts at all levels in the organization.
  • May lead activities in support of multiple projects/ functions or major business units/product lines.
  • May provide support on special projects as they arise, such as cost saving/revenue generating initiatives, insourcing/outsourcing decisions, and real estate strategy.
  • Summarizes financial performance, identifies key performance indicators, and facilitates action plans to address significant risks and opportunities.
  • Will partner to enterprise leadership team for forecasting and planning for operational expense.
  • Works with cross-functional areas to identify and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent..
  • 6+ years of experience in professional finance position.

Skills and Abilities

  • Fundamental knowledge and expertise in finance area of specialty resulting in the confidence to advise, influence and partner with various groups to affect change, guide business decisions and identify reporting needs.
  • Must have well developed interpersonal, communication skills and facilitation skills.
  • Necessary skills to analyze problems and generate new ideas and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, define, and resolve complex problems/projects/programs as well as the ability to identify trends and issues.
  • Proven ability to accomplish desired objectives / outcomes by influencing individuals at all levels, including internal and external management.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and implement policy and procedures in key areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams and manage projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to use office automation, communication, software and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment including a thorough understanding of financial software, Herman Miller information systems, data warehouse and ability to use Business Intelligence tools.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel is a must (comfortable with v-lookup functions, pivot tables, etc.).
