Research Scientist - Functional and Additive

Description

BlueHalo has an opportunity available for a Research Scientist to join our Polymer Composites Materials and Processing team at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The position focuses on processing and characterization of additively manufactured polymer composites. The ideal candidate will have a background in materials processing, with a knowledge of additive manufacturing, composite materials and functional additives. The position requires working closely with government and contract researchers within the research team and with other research teams. We are particularly interested in a highly motivated, adaptable, and capable individual with a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.

Requirements:



  • Ph.D. (or to be completed in next 6 mos.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Composite engineering, or related fields
  • Expertise in additive processing
  • Ability to learn and develop new approaches and techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • This position will require a self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills and careful attention to details
  • Adaptable to varying program objectives
  • This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship


Desired Qualifications:



  • Experience in producing additively manufactured polymer composites
  • Experience characterizing additively manufactured composites
  • Knowledge composite materials.
  • Knowledge of functional materials processing/performance also of interest
