Build and operationalize a Procurement and an External Manufacturing organization that optimizes quality, service levels, cost, supply chain flexibility, and accelerates time to market for new products. Short term: Develop a strategic sourcing framework, performance dashboards with an efficient process to obtain data for the associated success metrics, and a talent development plan that supports the strategy. Long term: create a vision and strategy for a global supply base that supports our business strategy. Leverage innovation, support business growth, manage risk, develop talent, and create robust processes with enabling technology to deliver high quality, service levels, and profitability. Global responsibility for regulatory compliance of suppliers including labor standards. Reporting to this position are the managers or directors for Indirect Procurement, Direct Materials (commodity managers), and Purchased Finished Goods Job Position Accountabilities / Expectations
- Responsible for direct and indirect procurement
- Responsible for Contract Manufacturing
- Develop a strategic sourcing framework and compelling global supplier and external manufacturing strategies that are aligned to business plan and objectives.
- Negotiate favorable terms and build strong supplier relationships that result in quality improvements, cost reductions, optimization of working capital, and favorable pricing structures.
- Assess opportunities to consolidate suppliers and implement changes that leverage economies of scale by consolidating purchasing power across various components and/or raw materials
- Develop supplier selection process that takes capabilities, capacity, cost, and working capital into consideration
- Engage in close partnership with suppliers and contract manufacturers that enable access to new technologies and innovative solutions that can help us differentiate our products and service levels.
- Mitigate supply chain risks to ensure continuity of supply
- Develop process to accelerate identification and selection of suppliers to support the new product development process
- Improve Return on Invested Capital for assets invested to build Procurement capabilities and supplier capacity
- Partner with Supplier Quality team to ensure that raw materials, components and purchased finished goods meet high quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to implement sustainable procurement practices and ethical labor practices.
- Leverage data analytics to optimize inventory levels, manage cost per unit and cost of services, reduce lead times, and anticipate disruptions to the supply chain.
- Work with businesses to integrate supply strategies with individual business strategy through S&OP; proactively identify and mitigate supply risks.
- Build a talented team that can deliver continuous improvement in continuity of supply of supply, cash conversion cycle, and cost.
- Strong general leadership and management skills
- P&L understanding as well as knowledge of Cash Conversion Cycle levers
- Experience with global supply chains and a complex global supplier base
Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills Required
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in business management or engineering
- 7+ years of experience between Global Procurement and Manufacturing leadership roles
- Regulated industry experience required; Healthcare experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability building partnerships
- Experience optimizing quality, cost, service levels, and working capital is required
- Experience with IT tools such as ERP, e-Sourcing, e-Procurement, Contract Management, PLM, Supplier Portals, and Data Analytics systems preferred
- Strong collaborative presence developed in prior roles / experiences
- Lean/Continuous Improvement skills
- Team leadership experience
