GENERAL PURPOSE Provides leadership to a crew of manufacturing operations maintenance employees while maintaining a working role on the maintenance team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Accurately documents repairs, set-ups, PM and safety procedures to ensure equipment reliability, quality control and improve overall operation of equipment. Actively participates in and contributes to machine and process design improvements. Actively supports all environmental and recycling efforts including the disposal of hazardous materials. May need to be HAZMAT certified. Assures effective shift turn-over communication on outstanding issues. Coordinates maintenance and repair activities with Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure effective and timely machine repairs. Inspects, adjusts, programs, and repairs machinery/mechanisms and equipment according to work assigned including responsibility for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic work on equipment. Recommends spare parts for inventory to support equipment reliability. Monitors and encourages on time reliability with work orders (emphasis on PM work orders, PM parties), adjusts work order due dates for individuals if warranted. Monitors emergency calls and respond if no one takes call. Monitors and maintains good 5's (housekeeping) and adherence to safety rules and practices in the Maintenance workspace and job sites; conducts monthly crew safety training. Monitors individuals' completed work orders to ensure that work is completed professionally, and customers are satisfied. Provides input on each individual on respective shift(s) for performance reviews and training needs. Schedules overtime for production support and in-progress work orders. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives. Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent education required (i.e., GED) Three to five years of experience in the mechanical/electrical field Prior successful work experience in a leadership capacity. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated familiarity with machine control systems including air logic, relay logic, computerized numerical control (CNC) and programmable logic control (PLC) and the ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
