Introduction
The Treasurer is a locally elected constitutional officer whose duties are mandated by the Code of Virginia and local ordinances. The Treasurer is elected at-large for a four-year term and provides direct service to all Loudoun residents and businesses. The principal functions of the Treasurer's Office include billing and collecting taxes for real and personal property, business licenses, and other services as specified by the Code of Virginia and local ordinances; acting as primary depository of revenue for all County agencies, including Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS); investing and safeguarding County funds; reconciling County funds to bank and investment accounts; and providing outstanding customer service to taxpayers, County staff, and LCPS staff.
Job Summary
The Loudoun County Treasurer's Office is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for the Lead Collector at our Sterling location.
This position involves direct contact with taxpayers and other Departments within the County regarding collection of delinquent accounts. The duties of this position include performing all collection activities on Large Delinquent Balances which includes Real Estate, Tax Sale, and Court Paper Process. This involves skip-tracing, conducting telephone inquiries, placing liens and other collection measures, maintaining communication and assisting the Collections Manager in overseeing the collections process and the collection staff. Candidate must also be skilled in resolving customer disputes and issues.
The successful candidate must be detailed oriented, possess excellent multi-tasking and communications skills, be able to prioritize problem solving and collaboration, and thrive in a fast paced ever evolving work environment. The successful candidate should also have a team-oriented approach, a proven record of excellent customer service, and a desire to innovate. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficiency in Excel and mainframe computer systems are desired. This position requires the exercise of confidentiality regarding all systems and data.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area; one (1) year of related collections and/or court work experience with computer automated systems and Microsoft Office applications experience preferably in a government environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background and credit check.
Normal working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM with mandatory overtime during tax deadlines.
