Taft is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to support our Accounting team in Taft's Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, or Minneapolis offices.
The Business Intelligence Analyst is primarily responsible for driving and assisting with the enhancement, customization, and maintenance of the Firm's Accounting systems, along with new Business Intelligence/reporting tools, as necessary. Duties include but are not limited to working in and leveraging several different systems, providing meaningful information and data to stakeholders, and applying judgment when required all while working independently, collaborating effectively within a high-performing team. Effective communication with attorneys, staff, and clients is crucial, along with observing confidentiality of client and firm matters. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help support various modules of the LMS application and ancillary systems, including being a front-line resource to respond to questions and issues from stakeholders surrounding use of the application.
- Plan, design, review, maintain and distribute regular Sequel & Excel monthly reports.
- Act as a key resource for data gathering requests. Modify screen designs, create system reports, interpret and process ad-hoc requests by creating SQL views and scripts. Be adept at system queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
- Data preparation for the annual Partner Participation compensation review.
- Ensure design and maintenance requirements for all reports individually and in aggregate are developed as efficiently as possible, with minimal redundancies.
- Maintain LMS database security groups.
- Collaborate with billing staff and other personnel as appropriate to ensure proper setup and maintenance of billing rate overrides and electronic billing arrangements.
- Maintain effective internal controls and audit trail documentation.
- Provide support for all financial systems, work with software vendors and/or internal IT staff as necessary.
- Utilize expertise and understanding of Firm systems to help support the Accounting team's day to day operations.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Filter and "clean" data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical users in a courteous and professional manner.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are necessary. Must be able to prepare and summarize complex financial data in an accurate, organized, concise manner.
- Strong customer service orientation and collaborative approach with non-financial personnel.
- Possess high-level of written, verbal, comprehension, and communication skills. Must be able to actively present information and ideas across multiple levels of the organization.
- Excellent organization and detailed oriented project management skills. Requires ability to manage and prioritize concurrent tasks under time constraints.
- Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working relationships. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Three or more years of progressively related work experience. Expertise and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of accounting systems and reporting.
- Experience working with and writing complex database queries. Experience in extracting and reporting of data using SQL and Business Intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Excel, including advanced features, including but not limited to Power Query, pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros, filtering, and graphs.
- Experience with professional services law firm preferred.
