Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, ensures all aspects of care for the adult trauma patient are coordinated and meet standards of care. Functions as an expert clinician who coordinates patient care, transfers, discharges and follow-up for all patients in the trauma program. Monitors and identifies quality assurance/improvement issues and implements corrective measures to return the patient to expected care pathways. Acts as a resource for nursing staff, physicians, and other ancillary services. Acts as an educator and participates in research and publication activities. Assist with data collection, abstraction and accurate data entry into the trauma registry. Adheres to the standards set forward by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and Colorado Department of Health and Environment for a Level I Trauma Center.
Essential Functions:
- Functions as an trauma subject matter expert who may coordinates care of the trauma patient (15%)
- Assists in the oversight and monitoring of the delivery of trauma care. (10%)
- Attends Trauma Quality meetings, Trauma Council meetings, and Trauma Performance Improvement Committee meetings (PIPS) (10%)
- Assist with the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of trauma protocols and actions plans based on TQIP benchmark reports to improve the care and outcomes of trauma patients (10%)
- Assists in the coordination and participates in trauma outreach and education programs. (10%)
- Provides timely patient follow-up, communication, and discharge summaries to referring Trauma Program Managers/ Coordinators and prehospital personnel. (15%)
- Acts as a consultant by providing expertise in trauma pare to prehospital providers, nurses and other health care professionals. (15%)
- Pro-actively conducts audits, monitors data for trends, create plans for performance improvement, identify methods to evaluate the PI plan, and see it through loop closure. keeps accurate documentation of process, loop closure and outcomes. (15%)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required
Work Experience:
- 4-6 years 4 years of nursing practice in Trauma, Critical Care, or Emergency Care. Required and
- Previous Trauma Performance Improvement Nurse experience preferred.
- Trauma Outcomes & Performance Improvement Course within 6 months of hire
- Trauma Optimal Course within 12 months of hire
Licenses:
- RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of the American college of Surgeon's standards for a verified Level I trauma center.
- Knowledge of CDPHE rules and regulations for a Level I trauma program.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and independently.
- Ability to work closely with the Trauma Medical Director, Sr. Manager Trauma Operations, Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Registrars.
- Ability to show evidence of clinical expertise in the care of the injured patient.
- Experience with trauma registry software preferred.

Salary $40.10 - $62.16 / hr
