Job Summary

Under general supervision, works with clinical staff/physician to provide primary healthcare to patients. Examines and diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans. As appropriate for clinical setting provides treatment for illnesses, injury, emergencies, prenatal care, follow up, and screening and testing. Performs testing, referral to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols and available equipment.
Residents will provide evidence-based care for Denver Health patients in outpatient and inpatient setting. May provide case management and case coordination to facilitate referrals as needed. Functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and provides clinical teaching appropriate for APP students, or APP residents other staff members.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors and evaluates patient's medical conditions in collaboration with supervising clinicians, ordering tests, prescribing medications and referring for consultation when needed as appropriate in compliance with standards of care and established protocols when available. Completes required documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner. (80%)
  • Attends didactics, clinic and department administrative meetings, meets with mentor and completes evaluations of clinical experiences as required (20%)

Education:

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse Required

Work Experience:

    Licenses:

    • PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required or
    • NP-Nurse Practitioner - AANPCB - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board Required or

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Has didactic training and supervised clinical training to assess and treat patients presenting to primary care.
    • Posesses skills needed to participate effectively with multidisciplinary care team.
    • Must possess masters level written and oral communication skills
    • Computer skills required
