Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer, the Senior Director, Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for the leadership, innovation, governance, and management necessary to design, stand up, and rollout a formal Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program for Boston Children's Hospital. This role will provide oversight for all aspects of an ERM program by working with stakeholders across Boston Children's to ensure effective risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across the organization.

This Senior Director, Enterprise Risk Management will:

  • Plan and execute the initial design, stand-up, and rollout of a formal ERM Program to guide Boston Children's Hospital in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to protect its reputation, financial stability, and long-term success.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership and the board of directors on the organization's risk profile and risk management activities. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the board of directors on risk-related matters, enabling informed decision-making and effective risk management strategies.
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance for an ERM Council of senior leadership under the co-direction of the Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President, Chief Safety and Quality Officer.
  • Coordinate and support existing ERM activities across the organization. Foster a robust culture of risk management by collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to ensure a consistent and integrated approach to risk management throughout the organization.
  • Aggregate, analyze, and report on data related to risk management. Strengthen the organization's focus on predictive analytics by leveraging internal and external data sources. Establish and monitors key performance indicators and other evidence-based metrics related to ERM program effectiveness.
  • With Internal Audit, coordinate and conduct the enterprise-wide annual risk assessment to identify and evaluate risks across various domains, including operational, financial, strategic, and compliance risks.
  • Direct the evaluation, design, and implementation of ERM technology applications that support the ERM program, including risk assessment, reporting, and monitoring.
  • Identify emerging risks and trends and incorporate best practices into the ERM program to proactively address potential threats.

To qualify, you must have:

  • BA degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field. MA degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in enterprise risk management, risk advisory, or internal controls evaluation. Experience in an academic medical center preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with a focus on incorporating innovation and efficiency to solve complex problems.
  • Track record of success in achieving results in a highly complex matrix organization. Capacity to lead and facilitate change.
  • Outstanding collaboration, communication, and presentation skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to interact comfortably and to work effectively with a wide range of constituents.
