The Assembler 1 is an entry-level position focused on supporting the assembly of large-scale components. This role involves basic tasks that contribute to the construction of extensive assemblies, including subassemblies and modular units, under close supervision.


Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Handle and maintain large tools and equipment specifically used in large-scale assembly.
  • Assist in positioning and aligning large components following basic assembly instructions.
  • Perform basic measurements on large-scale components to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Support the assembly of large subassemblies, ensuring that components are securely fastened.
  • Participate in basic troubleshooting activities to address alignment and fit issues in large components. * Aid in the development of workflows for large-scale assembly tasks using TPS concepts.
  • Assist in the safe movement and handling of oversized materials and components.
  • Follow basic safety procedures, with particular attention to the hazards associated with large-scale assembly work.
  • Display awareness of emergency protocols specific to working with large assemblies.
  • Adhere to basic quality standards for large-scale assemblies, ensuring all components meet size and fit specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with team members when moving or positioning large components.
  • Follow detailed verbal and written instructions related to the assembly of large-scale products.
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability, contributing to the overall productivity of large assembly projects.

Role Specific Competencies

  • Kitting products for shipment or for installation.
  • Perform basic cable terminations and testing.
  • Apply labels to products accurately
  • Understand basic assembly instructions with oversite
  • Assemble sub-assembles and components from drawings with oversite.
  • Use equipment for material movement with oversite.
  • Use manufacturing tools and equipment with oversite.
  • Work efficiently installing fasteners and parts.
  • Work in a team environment on production lines.
  • Assists with team with problem solving.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to work specified shift and show up on time.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • This is a 40 hour per week position.
  • Overtime work expected when needed.
  • Trade school education a plus.

Abilities:

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
  • Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
