POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lift Maintenance Apprentice assists with lift maintenance responsibilities under the supervision of a Lift Mechanic. This is an entry-level seasonal role with possible opportunity for advancement. S/he will drive lifts, assist Lift Maintenance, helps with installations, performs load test duties, and other tasks as assigned. The Lift Maintenance Apprentice performs all tasks in a professional, efficient manner with an emphasis on safety. This person must comply with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations of Winter Park Resort, Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board, American National Standards Institute (ANSI B.77), United States Forest Service, and OSHA.

The Lift Maintenance Apprentice will follow all Winter Park policies and procedures, all applicable laws (federal, state, and local), and all health and sanitation codes.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $22.00 - $24 (DOE)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Drives lifts for maintenance personnel and documents all maintenance performed in log.
  • Is trained in and will assist with daily pre-operational checks.
  • Assists daily with annual, monthly, & weekly preventative maintenance.
  • Assists with Dynamic Testing and other special projects as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED.


Experience:
  • Construction and or Maintenance experience desirable.
  • Ski Area Experience is desirable.


Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license.
  • Must possess interest and aptitude in basic mechanical systems.
  • Must be proficient in basic hand tool use.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Mountain Environment:
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is indoors, however time will be spent out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be low to moderate.
  • Some strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain, operating a snowmobile, skiing or riding.
  • Exposure to: Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn. Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on as needed.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
