DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator B, you will conduct technical construction and skilled maintenance work by performing the construction, modification, and rebuilding of paved roads, parking lots, trails, ranges, and other features, in addition to assisting with snow removal. Work includes the demolition of structurally deficient buildings, underground utility work, hydro-excavating for utility locating, maintenance and construction on the airfield, drainage improvements and installations, and bio solid spreading. You will also be responsible for the maintenance and operation of specialized equipment, both military and civilian, used for construction and maintenance work with vehicles or equipment with a gross vehicle weight 32,001 pounds or more. Safety is a top priority in this role, and you will ensure the safe operation of all equipment while maintaining a secure work environment for yourself, your coworkers, and the public by adhering to safety procedures and wearing the appropriate safety gear. All work will be performed in accordance with DMVA's general safety rules and guidelines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

  • A conditional offer is contingent on passing a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit at the time of hire. (Once you are hired, the agency will send you to classes for a Class A CDL that you must obtain within 6 months after hire.)
  • You must obtain a Tanker Endorsement (N) within one year of employment.
  • You must obtain a Bio-Solid Application Certification within one year of employment.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions.
  • Experience operating a refuse/recycling truck.
  • Experience operating a wheeled/tract front-end loader.
  • Experience operating heavy trucks/tractor trailers.
  • Experience with snow removal.
  • Experience cutting grass using a large tractor with a gang-mower attachment.
