PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX. It is part of the Pemex group, a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, operating across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing and refining, logistics, and marketing. The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day, and it has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crude to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. The Pemex site is co-located with three other 3rd party chemical facilities, allowing for further integration and optimization of the refinery and its products. As an Operations Support Engineer (OSE), you will be responsible for providing technical support and assurance to one or more Production Units within the PEMEX Deer Park Refinery. This position is a technical development role where you will ensure that process units operate in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams and manage conflicting priorities across multiple Production Areas and teams. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop expertise in manufacturing process technology, technical safety, and fundamental process engineering skills, offering you valuable growth in the field.

 

To succeed as the Operations Support Engineer, you must have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in Chemical Engineering.
  • 1-5 years of process engineering experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., Petro-SIM, ProMax, HYSYS) preferred.
  • A solid understanding of refinery processes and operations is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and provide technical solutions under pressure.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide proactive technical monitoring and support to ensure safe, reliable, and profitable operation of Production Units.
  • Collaborate with other OSEs to support daily operations, small projects, and margin initiatives.
  • Assist in work scope development and execution during turnarounds for process equipment.
  • Provide guidance to Operations in setting appropriate operating targets to meet feed and product specifications.
  • Support process changes via the Management of Change (MOC) process, ensuring hazard mitigation for design changes.
