Your Role With Us:As a Critical Care Tech in the ICU at Salem Health, your role would involve performing a variety of essential clinical and support tasks to ensure optimal patient care and safety. You will be responsible for accurately completing medical procedures as per policy, ensuring only those tasks within your demonstrated competency are performed. This includes assisting with equipment maintenance, stocking and checking supplies for expiration, conducting point-of-care (POC) testing, and assisting in invasive line insertions, such as central lines and arterial lines, while maintaining sterile technique. You will also assist with monitoring vital signs, perform 12-lead EKGs, set up pressure lines, and respond to emergency codes like Code Blue and Code Airway/Alert. Additionally, you'll support patient daily living activities, ensuring their safety and comfort, while promoting self-care and reinforcing patient teaching. Clear communication is key, as you will document patient information, report changes in condition to the RN, and collaborate with the care team to maintain a safe environment. Your role will also involve completing mandatory education, staying informed through unit updates, and maintaining certifications, including BLS.
