As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective Clinical Trial solutions for our clients as part of our Life Science Practice Group.

This position will be based in Philadelphia, PA. We are open to considering candidates located in Philadelphia as well as other East Coast states, including but not limited to New York, Charlotte, Boston, and Connecticut (Hartford). This role offers flexibility for hybrid work, with a combination of in-office and remote work options.

What the day will look like

  • Responsible for broking/placing primarily Clinical Trials Liability as well Products Liability, Errors & Omissions Liability, and Excess Liability
  • Market new and renewal business, handling all aspects of the placements from initial market selection through the long-term servicing until the clinical trials these policies are covering are over.
  • Demonstrate effective negotiation skills on behalf of clients and prospects.
  • Ensure that placements are handled timely and correctly
  • Develop productive business relationships with key insurance underwriters and Aon local office teams
  • Identify and analyze prospect and client exposures.
  • Coordinate activities with other internal units as required to meet customer needs.
  • Create presentations such as Renewal Strategies and Coverage Proposals.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, resourcing and executing complex projects/programs.
  • Frequently interacts with senior level colleagues and clients, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or clients and the company.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

Unlike most insurance programs, the primary purpose of Clinical Trial Liability insurance is to support Pharma and Biotech companies through regulatory approvals and contractual compliance while simultaneously protecting these trial sponsors and their research partners from financial liability in case of injury or harm.

Clinical trials are essential for the approval of new drugs and medical devices, as they provide the data needed to assess safety and efficacy in humans, a requirement for regulatory approval by agencies like the FDA. To generate this volume of data, clinical trials must take place in many countries who closely regulate the activity including the clinical trial liability insurance. Our team of specialized brokers, through global and local insurance partners, provides the necessary local insurance ensuring no trial is ever delayed due to insurance reasons thus supporting our clients in their mission of saving and improving lives.

  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, exceptional organizational skills, ability to present complex insurance programs.
  • Minimum of 3 years of insurance brokerage and/or underwriting experience (preferred Life Sciences in Clinical Trials Liability and/or Casualty Line experience)
  • Effective working knowledge of carrier underwriting practices & processes.
  • Proven client facing skills including effective presentations & communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various levels in the organization.
  • Ability to independently manage a dynamic book of clients
  • Successfully operates in a fast-paced driven environment that requires the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must maintain appropriate broker's and Surplus Lines licenses.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience.

  • A Property and Casualty Brokers License is required, or must be obtained within 120 days of hire if not already active

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $110,000-$130,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Pennsylvania. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
