JOB TITLE: Pool Manager

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time seasonal

STARTING HOURLY RATE: $19.00

HOURS PER WEEK: 5 - 15

JOB SUMMARY:

The Pool Manager is the direct supervisor of aquatics staff team members at assigned pool locations. Responsibilities include oversight of aquatics part-time staff members including: lifeguards, swim instructors, team coaches and fitness leaders. The pool manager will assist with securing substitute staff members when absences occur. It is important for the Pool Manager to be reachable via phone or text two hours prior the start of programming hours. Pool managers are required to work at least 4 hours weekly at assigned pool locations in addition to conducting site visits to observe and evaluate part-time staff team members seasonally. The role may require conducting other duties as assigned by the aquatics supervisory team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in close collaboration with Aquatics Supervisory Team.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with supervisory staff and part-time co-workers.
  • Assign reasonable expectations for part-time aquatic staff during site visits.
  • Guide part-time team members to conduct daily opening and closing duties.
  • Share patron concerns and needs with supervisor or building staff when necessary.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by always being in uniform and keeping the facility clean and organized.
  • Observe all staff, making corrective actions as needed and communicate findings to Aquatics Office.
  • Be flexible and able to commit to multiple pool visits per season.
  • Be an authority figure at your facility and work to create a safe and fun environment for others.
  • Be prepared to address or respond to challenges at the pool (i.e unexcused absences, facility closure, etc.)
  • Accurately complete paperwork related to the job in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain current certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or Water Safety Instructor Trainer & others as listed below.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Preferred American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
  • Hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED and First-Aid certification.
  • Preferred American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.
  • Experience with coaching swim or aquatic fitness a plus.
  • Able to meet the flexible scheduling needs for this position
  • Access to reliable transportation

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years working in and around pools preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional leadership ability, maturity and supervisory responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate leadership ability and positive public relation skills in addressing concerns with customers, employees, inspectors, building staff.
  • Observe and enforce state-regulated pool code compliance of part-time Lifeguard and Swim Instructional staff in accordance with Wisconsin Statue ATCP #76.24.
  • Document site visits and effectively communicate appropriate feedback to part-time employees and full-time supervisory staff.
  • Exhibit a passion for water safety and ability to positively market Milwaukee Recreation Aquatic programming.
  • Complete required paperwork for the Red Cross, State of Wisconsin and Milwaukee Recreation Aquatics Office.
