TEACHING SUPERVISOR

Under the direction of the Chair of the Educator Preparation Program, and the Clinical Coordinator, the Teaching Supervisor will serve to guide, support and evaluate teacher candidates while serving as the liaison between the Educator Preparation Program and the clinical field placement in a local K-12 school. The supervisor will ensure that the teacher candidate has the resources needed to meet the educator preparation program requirements for their clinical field placement. The supervisor is responsible for the shared evaluation of the teacher candidate with the mentor teacher. Ongoing recruitment with potential for multiple openings.

Employment Type: Part-time, Credit Load Varies - Approx. 1-3 credits per semester

Reports To: Chair of Teacher Education

Pay Range: Adjunct pay rate per assigned credit load each semester

  • Serve as the liaison between the Educator Preparation Program and the K-12 schools where teacher candidates are placed for their clinical field experiences.
  • Provide teacher candidates with constructive criticism, support, and guidance.
  • Communicate frequently and candidly with the teacher candidate, mentor teacher, and the Clinical Coordinator; report any concerns related to teacher candidate placements.
  • Conduct pre- and post-conference meetings for every formal observation to assist in improving instruction, analyzing problems, identifying strengths, and reflecting on teaching effectiveness.
  • Document progress of the teacher candidate throughout the semester using the protocols established by the Educator Preparation Program.
  • Conduct observations of teacher candidates in clinical field experiences, and complete all necessary evaluations
  • Work collaboratively with the Educator Preparation Program to ensure that data is collected, analyzed, and reported.
  • Attend Teaching Supervisor Training sessions as required.
  • Represent the University and the program in a professional manner.

  • Master's Degree
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience and expertise in a subject matter area and developmental level of the clinical placement in a K-12 school.
  • Recent teaching and/or supervision experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
