Position Description

Position Responsibilities

As a Master Plumber at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our laboratory, administrative, and residential buildings. Your responsibilities will include Installs, repairs, maintenance and operations of plumbing, sewage, gas, lab gas, and sewage treatment systems and components.

  • Performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance to plumbing, sewage, and other piping systems.
  • Designs, installs, and tests plumbing systems, fixtures, and related components for laboratory, administrative, and residential buildings.
  • Troubleshoots and develops solutions for routine and complex plumbing and maintenance problems.
  • Interacts with other trades, scientific staff, and the Laboratory's administration in the performance of his/her duties.
  • Is responsible for specification and design of new and retrofitted plumbing systems.
  • Steam/ hot water boilers, and hot water heater maintenance and inspections
  • Performs other plumbing systems maintenance tasks as directed by the Plumbing Services Supervisor.


Position Requirements

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: 15 years experience in the area of plumbing systems maintenance and repair. Plumbing License is a plus


Other: Ability to work independently with little supervision.
