JOB SUMMARY:

The Account Access Director will focus on Government Payers, select Commercial Payers, National/Regional Strategic Groups, and physician practices in an assigned region of the United States serving as the managed care and coverage lead. This position is responsible for driving US Market Access strategy, managing business relationships within her/his assigned geography and guiding pull-through efforts for BioCryst products in aligned geography/accounts. Candidate must be US East Cost ideally in between NC to FL. #LI-REMOTE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Serve as Market Access lead for one (or more) of the following:

    • State and Managed Medicaid Plans within aligned geography (e.g. Texas Medicaid, New York Medicaid),
    • Regional or National Medicaid PBMs (e.g. MedImpact, Gainwell),
    • Indian Health Services,
    • Veterans Administration.


  • Provide education to HCPs on BioCryst's distribution and support services.
  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with key decision-makers across state Medicaid programs/Medicaid PBMs and select commercial plans/PBMs to support access of Orladeyo and future portfolio products.
  • Work with Medicaid directors, administrators, directors of pharmacy, and policy leaders to drive payer engagement strategies and negotiate contracts where applicable.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring of state PDL, participation in HAE disease state class reviews including serving as lead for public comment, and state Medicaid pharmacy staff education of BioCryst products.
  • Monitor state level regulatory changes and Medicaid policy updates and translate insights into actionable recommendations to adapt market access strategies.
  • Develop and implement pull-through strategies for approved products with assigned provider accounts.
  • Prepare business updates and/or Business Plans aligned with Market Access, Sales and Marketing and individual objectives.
  • Partner with assigned Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to proactively communicate approved disease education messages for therapeutic areas of interest including responding to therapeutic class reviews, unsolicited request or other compliant inquiries.
  • Serve as liaison (or lead) on special access projects linked with government and select commercial payers.
  • Participate in regional/national allergy society meetings, state association meetings attended by Medicaid as well as select Market Access conferences.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 40-60% domestically.



EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree or higher preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) in the biopharmaceutical industry required, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in US market access payer and reimbursement roles strongly preferred.
  • Specialty product launch experience in the US; rare disease therapeutic launch experience a plus.
  • Experience and comfortability working in a virtual environment including, but not limited to; online presentations, scheduling and hosting of virtual meetings with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of specialty pharmacy, distribution and hub services models with the ability to translate the understanding into a successful business model for an oral, rare disease medication.
  • Deep understanding and compliance with the OIG and FDA regulations governing pharmaceutical marketing and the PhRMA code.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, crafting innovative options, solving problems and prioritizing projects, excellent communication skills and collaborative work style.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, financial acumen, motivated by start-up environment with the ability to deal with ambiguity.
