GENERAL FUNCTION

The Cash Application Manager will lead and oversee the cash application function within our Finance Operations department. This role will be responsible for managing a team of Cash Application Analysts, ensuring accurate and timely processing of incoming payments, optimizing cash application workflows, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, deep expertise in cash application processes, and experience working with ERP (SAP preferred) and banking systems.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Cash Application Specialists, ensuring high performance and engagement.
  • Assign daily, weekly, and monthly workloads, set performance goals, and conduct regular team meetings.
  • Provide training and guidance to ensure accuracy and compliance in all cash application activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of all incoming payments (ACH, wire transfers, credit cards, checks, lockbox, etc.) to customer accounts.
  • Oversee research and resolution of unapplied and misapplied payments, chargebacks, and discrepancies.
  • Review reconciliation reports and ensure alignment between bank records, ERP system, and AR ledger.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Work with IT and finance teams to enhance automation tools, AI-driven cash posting, and ERP integrations.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cash application workflows.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Collections and Treasury teams regarding cash application matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex payment discrepancies.
  • Provide regular updates to finance leadership on KPIs, trends, and process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and financial regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide support for audits and month-end close processes.
  • Generate and analyze cash application performance metrics to drive strategic improvements.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or related finance roles.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role within AR or cash application.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, etc.) and banking portals.
  • Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Experience with lockbox processing, AI-driven cash posting, and payment automation tools.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities to build a high-performing team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving payment issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Experience with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI-driven cash application tools.
  • Background in high-volume payment processing and collections integration.
