Job Summary

#CA-SS

This position provides direct support for required courses of the M.D. program. Specifically, the position works as part of a team of 6 clinical curriculum coordinators to support the Instructors of Record, teaching faculty, Curriculum Management Team, Academic Coordinator, and other OME staff in all aspects of course implementation, development, and execution. Tasks include but are not limited to, faculty development, preparation of teaching materials, course delivery, web site maintenance, incorporation of video and multimedia both in teaching and evaluation, course/faculty/student evaluation and data management, CME arrangements and certification, and ongoing program development. Coordinators will maintain a thorough understanding of policies related to medical education and be able to inform and advise students, faculty, and staff accordingly. Coordinators will serve on, or work indirectly with, a number of school task forces and workgroups.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Experience working in a collaborative mode with a wide array of individuals, including faculty, staff, students, administrators, organizations and the public
  • Experience to produce high quality work using software programs such as Microsoft Word and it's advanced features, Excel, Access, Internet Browser, HTML editors, Acrobat, and Photoshop.
  • Must be sensitive to highly confidential information related to student records, and to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to assume new assignments and independently follow through to successful completion; to manage details of complex projects; and to schedule and coordinate meetings.
  • Skills to maintain composure and coordinate multiple tasks and functions with interruptions and deadlines; to set priorities and use judgment and initiative to organize workload.
  • Excellent customer service skills to handle requests expediently with minimal direction.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships in a team work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to assess program needs and to develop and monitor project timelines for course implementation.
  • Demonstrated skill to problem solve and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and proofreading skills, to include creating correspondence, reports, and keeping accurate and complete meeting minutes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, critical thinking and problem resolution skills and forward thinking.
  • Proven initiative to work independently and as part of a team under multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated outstanding typing and computer skills.
  • Sufficient technical skills to provide basic troubleshooting support for computer and other standard electronic equipment used in teaching circumstances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work in an academic setting, preferably at the university level.
  • Work related to curriculum planning and experience in medical education.
  • Proven mastery with basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to conduct library research on pre-assigned topics.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to continual curricular change.

Department Overview

The mission of the Office of Medical Education (OME) is to provide high quality support for the School of Medicine teaching programs through the delivery of centralized expertise, services and instructional resources to faculty and medical students. OME is an interdisciplinary team of technical, academic, and administrative support staff, directed by the Associate Dean for Education. OME supplies many of the resources needed by the faculty to organize, deliver, evaluate, and enhance the professional curriculum. The unit also provides a variety of services directly to students, including instructional materials, financial aid, counseling, tutoring, and support for special programs. OME staff offer support for various School of Medicine and Health system committees, including the Promotions Board, the Committee on Educational Policy, and the Educational Advisory Board. Finally, OME sponsors a number of special programs in support of the academic mission and is able to assist with the presentation of those sponsored by other administrative or academic groups.

Work Environment
