Summary of Job Duties:This position will manage financials related to grants, contracts, and awards for the Institute for Community Health Innovation at UAMS in accordance with UAMS policies and procedures. This will include preparing and managing budgets; financial status reports; developing and overseeing processes for monitoring expenses; managing communications and expenses with various partners; approve travel and reimbursements; and manage related items for extramurally funded projects. In addition, this position is responsible for assigning some direct and indirect tasks for other department finance team members. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and Division Director as well as other investigators and leadership to establish policies/processes for managing multiple awards, grants, and contracts to ensure proper financial management and grant compliance. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Health Administration, or similar field.
  • Six (6) years' experience in financial management and administration and/or experience in grants and contracts management.

  • In-depth understanding of grant and contract financial management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or Health Services Administration, or similar field.
  • Four (4) years' experience in financial management and administration. Experience with grants management or accounting is preferred.
  • Grants Management Certification.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management Functions

  • Oversees and monitors assigned grants, contracts, and awards for the Institute for Community Health Innovation to ensure proper grants management and financial responsibility for multiple extramural and intermural funded projects.
  • Works with the Executive Director and budget team to establish a system of financial control and reporting to ensure proper financial management of multiple grants, contracts, and awards. Prepare and manage multiple budgets for funded researchers within the division. Develop and implement a systematic approach to reporting the financial performance of budget monitoring and cost control purposes. Utilize the Workday financial system for verifying the accuracy and reporting of financial information. Work with team to implement and adhere to procedures for processing travel payments, purchasing of supplies and materials, executing contractual agreements, and processing other items related to the finances of the department.
  • Provides oversight of financial related functions, including Grants Management (understand and ensure compliance with particular funding agency rules and regulations for management of financials. Includes NIH, PCORI, CDC, USDA, and others), Purchasing (promote and maintain good business relationships with vendors, ensure internal service quality, improve process efficiency), and Budget Planning (provide direction to two budget team members, prepare timely and accurate financial reports, facilitate annual budget process).

Leadership

  • Collaborates with Division Director, Executive Director and other leadership team in the division to identify and recommend process improvement needs and ensure that all resources are utilized in a cost-effective manner and in-line with funder guidelines and expectations. Directly and indirectly assign tasks related to budget management to other finance team members.
