Position Highlights |
This position is open to currently certified AZPOST officers. Successful applicants will be responsible for following up on criminal investigations that include report writing, interviewing, scene and evidence processing, and coordination with the county attorney's office for case prosecution. This position is also subject to an on-call rotation, participation with the regional critical incident team, completing background investigations for new hires, and assisting with dignitary protection.
The UAPD has a Step Compensation Plan. The pay rate for lateral officers is determined by their experience and may exceed that of entry-level officers. Officer Step One begins at $57,925, which is $27.849 per hour. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Conduct case follow up to include interviews, writing case supplements, processing evidence, reviewing camera footage, and obtaining search warrants and subpoenas.
- Assist with case prosecution to include working with the county attorneys office to issue cases, present at grand jury, and testify as needed during trial.
- Participate with the regional critical incident team and attend various meetings as a representative of UAPD.
- Conduct background investigations for new hire employees and assist with Professional Standards investigations as needed.
- Assist with dignitary protection and field intelligence collection as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes.
- Ability to retain/re-establish AZPOST certification.
- Skill in conducting criminal investigations.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Successfully pass background check to include a polygraph, psychological and physical examination, and drug screening.
- Current AZPOST Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications |
- 2 years experience working in an Investigations Unit.
- Basic Investigations Certification.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
