Position Highlights |
We are seeking a Tribal Liaison/Outreach Coordinator to oversee and administer a Kellogg funded project of the Wassaja Carlos Montezuma Center for Native Health, at the Department of Family and Community Medicine, at the University of Arizona, Health Sciences Center. This is a grant-funded, extended temporary project through June 30, 2026. The Tribal Liaison/Outreach Coordinator under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Executive Director, Christina Andrews, will oversee core project components to achieve the project objectives. The Tribal Liaison/Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the Tribal partners to develop ongoing collaborations that will benefit Native American students that are part of the ACP. This person will help to promote the ACP among the Tribes and will work to recruit students into the program, even at the high school level. The person will work with ACP Team when reporting to Tribal leadership to make sure that the Tribes have input and offer feedback in how the certified nursing assistant and community health representative alternative credentials programs are developed and implemented. FTE will be decided at time of hire in conversation with the candidate and supervisor. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Strengthen academic support for AI/AN students to help them achieve and maintain academic success and persistence within the UA community.
- Provide both internal and external resources to assist students in improving their academic preparation and performance in math and science.
- Oversee outreach activities for the project in collaboration with the PI, faculty, and staff, and attend bi-monthly and monthly meetings.
- Deliver presentations to community partners, including high school advisors, UA stakeholders, and students from elementary, secondary, and Tribal/community colleges, to inspire interest in science and recruit students into pre-health and health professions. This may involve participation in science fairs, health career programs, career fairs, and initiatives promoting specialized degree fields.
- Support faculty and staff in the creation and administration of Med School Prep and other workshops designed to prepare students for medical school and health-related careers.
- Plan and coordinate outreach events at conferences and seminars.
- Contribute to the recruitment of AI/AN students to the UA in collaboration with the provost's office and admissions staff.
- Develop content and materials to promote INCATS II and other UA Health professional programs, reaching both internal and external audiences through virtual and physical media, including social media to create a listserv of prospective students.
- Manage grant budget
- Travel to tribal communities in Arizona and surrounding states.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Evidence of excellent written and oral communication and the ability to communicate with students from K-Medical school, federal partners at IHS, Tribal leadership, and other key stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to work with others in a team environment with shared workspace and equipment, including in a virtual environment.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy; travel to Tribal Communities will be required.

- Experience in health, or other relevant field of study.
- Previous work experience with or extensive knowledge of working with Tribal Communities.
