GENERAL SUMMARY: Practices according to the Standards of Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing as identified by the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Collaborates with employees, employers, members of the occupational health and safety team, and other professionals to identify health and safety needs, prioritize interventions, develop and implement interventions and programs and evaluate care and service delivery. *Potential duties may include leased time for Merrick Medical Center (MMC). PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Assesses the health status of the individual or population and the environment. 3. *Analyzes assessment data to formulate plan of care. 4. *Integrates standards of care, procedures, physician standard orders, age-specific needs, regulations and professional recommendations into the plan of care. 5. *Incorporates cultural consideration as well as home and family dynamics into the plan of care. 6. *Implements nursing actions and therapeutic interventions to carry out the plan of care. 7. *Provides education with consideration for learning abilities, preferences and readiness to learn. 8. Utilizes appropriate resources and teaching aids. 9. *Evaluates the client's response to interventions. 10. *Provides discharge instructions regarding ongoing plan of care, including alternative follow-up strategies depending on the client's condition and response to therapies. 11. *Promotes appropriate self-care strategies. 12. *Promotes wellness and disease prevention. 13. *Makes appropriate referrals and facilitates referral contacts as needed. 14. *Documents all aspects of the plan of care, including outcomes. 15. Practices collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team. 16. *Communicates appropriate information to coworkers and Employee Health Services Manager. 17. *Maintains confidentiality of the client's health information. 18. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 19. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. 20. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned. (Essential Job functions are marked with an asterisk "*". Attach Addendum for positions with slightly different roles or work-specific differences as needed. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies. 2. Knowledge of local, State and Federal regulations pertaining to employee health and safety. 3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions. 4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 5. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff. 7. Ability to work with employees' growth and development needs, particularly related to employees who are chronically ill or functionally impaired. 8. Ability to instruct employees, interact with managers and collaborate with health care team members from diverse employee populations. 9. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills. 10. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information. 11. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision. 12. Ability to practice proper body mechanics to ensure personal and customer/patient safety. 13. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
