Manager, Biomanufacturing Laboratory - Generation Park PRIMARY FUNCTION: The purpose of this role is to support San Jacinto College Biomanufacturing Training Program at the South and Generation Park Campuses through equipment operation, preventative maintenance, method development, inventory management, procurement for the core areas of upstream, downstream, fill finish, and QC analytics capabilities. The laboratory manager will hire, train, schedule, and supervise PT laboratory technicians. The biomanufacturing laboratory manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of and method development for a broad range of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and associated inventory at San Jacinto College training facilities. Essential Job Functions:
- Daily operations are focused on the required work to setup training sessions and support excellence in training delivery.
- Operation and changeover of manufacturing equipment including but not limited to pilot scale stainless steel and single use chromatography columns, UFDF skids, and bioreactors, and advanced therapy equipment.
- Operation and changeover of laboratory equipment including but not limited to spectrophotometers, UPLC, cell counters, incubators, flow cytometers, and pH/conductivity/osmolarity meters.
- Cell culture work to maintain training's suspension and adherent cell cultures including cell freeze & thaw, cell scale up, and cell passaging.
- Inventory management to ensure optimal inventory levels via procurement, purchase, and storage of inventory including reagents, lab consumables, PPE, and single use/disposable consumables.
- Collaborate and communicate above work with other San Jacinto College training team members to ensure excellence in training delivery.
Additional Job Functions:
- Generate, implement, and maintain San Jacinto College equipment training documentation (SOP's, work instructions, checklists, label management) and ensure it meets GMP/GDP requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment and troubleshooting.
- Work with training team members to develop, implement, maintain, and improve current training practices.
- Assist with training, project work, and any other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good knowledge of biopharmaceutical production operations and equipment
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in MS 365 applications including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Planner, and others

Required Education:
- Associate degree in applicable field.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with specific knowledge and skills in upstream and downstream processing of biologics ( mAbs, Vaccines, and/or Cell and Gene therapy)
Required Experience:
- 3-5 years' work experience in Biomanufacturing / Bioprocessing Technology.
- Previous experience in biopharmaceutical production operations and equipment.
- Previous experience with MS 365 applications including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Planner, and others.
Preferred Experience:
- Significant industry experience including supervisory role is a plus.
- Specific knowledge and skills in upstream and downstream processing of biologics ( mAbs, Vaccines, and/or Cell and Gene therapy)
- Technical writing and project management skills with previous experience.
- Previous hands-on practical experience of preparation of both stainless steel and single use processing equipment including: bioreactors, chromatography column packing, autoclaves, SOP of vessels.
- Previous experience in a regulated industrial biopharmaceutical process environment.
- Interest, knowledge or experience of process automation, Biopharma 4.0, advanced, cell & gene therapies.
