The Graduate College Business Analyst IV leads technical initiatives that enhance student information systems and optimize business processes. This role plays a critical part in improving efficiency, automation, and data-driven decision-making across graduate admissions, degree progression, and financial support. The Business Analyst IV works closely with Graduate College leadership, including Deans, Directors, and their staff. This role collaborates with central University Information Technology personnel responsible for campus-wide information systems, as well as with other university stakeholders. This position reports to the Graduate College Information Technology Director. Duties & Responsibilities |
System Enhancement & Process Optimization
- Provide project oversight/management for large Graduate College initiatives that have campus-wide impact.
- Assist college leadership to determine strategic priorities for technology enhancements; liaise with owners of other systems to request enhancements as necessary.
- Plan, lead and/or participate in project work to ensure project milestones are met.
- Conduct stakeholder analysis and develop communication plans to ensure transparency.
- Identify risks and implement contingency plans to minimize project delays.
- Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation or optimization.
- Document and maintain business process workflows and data flows across departments.
- Define functional requirements and develop business cases for system enhancements.
- Partner with stakeholders to implement new system features, primarily in the student information system.
- Create training materials and lead training sessions for new processes and tools.
- Maintain documentation and training materials as business processes evolve.
- Build, test and implement system enhancements in conjunction with college and UITS personnel.
Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (UAccess Student).
- Identify student data or system problems and recommend solutions to college and University Information Technology Services (UITS) staff.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for internal and campus-wide solutions.
- Collaborate with UITS and Graduate College IT teams on troubleshooting and system improvements.
Systems & Data Maintenance
- Configure and maintain student information systems in support of Graduate College operations.
- Serve as the Graduate College Data Steward, overseeing security roles and data integrity.
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure appropriate data access and security compliance.
- Maintain documentation in Jira, ServiceNow, and Confluence for system updates and troubleshooting.
- Transform data from external, shadow, and University systems for use in other systems using SQL, Access, Excel, or other tools.
- Test student information system changes, modifications, and bundle upgrades to ensure they work as expected.
- Guide college staff through user-acceptance testing of system modifications and upgrades.
- Manage and process test score data from external organizations such as GRE, TOEFL, GMAT, and PTE.
- Oversee the Graduate College job cycle calendar, ensuring data integrity and seamless operation of recurring processes

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or similar student information systems.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Query Manager, Oracle SQL Developer, or similar tools.
- Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and ability to write and optimize queries.
- Experience in training users and creating training materials.
- Experience in creating technical documentation.
- Experience with Constituency Relationship Management (CRM) platforms.
- Experience using Confluence and Jira or similar project management tools.
- Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects.
