Overview
Job Purpose Intercontinental Exchange is looking to hire a senior risk analyst to join the risk department of ICE NGX, the North American clearing house for natural gas, electricity, and environmental markets at ICE. The senior risk analyst will report to the risk manager and will work closely with senior management of the business daily. Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain the risk management framework by following risk policies and staying up to date with regulatory and industry standards
- Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate any potential risk exposure to the clearing house
- Monitor model performance tests and assess the appropriateness of models to demonstrate policy adherence
- Identify areas where the risk models, processes, or infrastructure can be improved and participate in the design and implementation of those enhancement initiatives
- Conduct mathematical/statistical analysis to calibrate and enhance risk models
- Collaborate with a group of colleagues on key policy and methodology development
- Build and maintain the risk management reports to the ICE NGX board, various ICE NGX risk committees and the regulators overseeing ICE NGX
- Communicate frequently with representatives from contracting parties, risk committees and senior management of ICE
- Conduct project work and run thematic or ad-hoc market research on relevant risk topics
- Be a team player and cultivate a strong risk culture
- Train junior members in the team on risk processes and procedures
- Work on strategic projects which will foster revenue and business growth including work on new products as well as projects designed to enhance and strengthen the risk and operational infrastructure of ICE NGX
Knowledge and Experience
- Master's degree in a quantitative field required
- 3+ years' work experience in a quantitative risk field is preferred
- Strong quantitative and analytical background with a solid knowledge of statistics (degree in Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline)
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance trade-offs
- Must have prior experience in risk management as a risk analyst or relevant professional experience in risk management, data analysis, portfolio management, and/or risk systems. At least some of this experience will have been gained in an investment bank, hedge fund or clearing house
- Strong knowledge in financial derivatives products in multiple asset classes preferred
- Prior experience in applying risk management models and techniques such as Value at Risk models, Liquidity Risk models, back testing and stress testing models
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with SQL and Python
- Must be able to articulate complex concepts to senior management, the risk committee and board of the clearing houses, contracting parties, regulators as well as end users
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of a broader team
- Experience with energy markets is a plus
Base Salary Range for New York The expected base salary for this role, if located in New York, is between $108,200 - $144,200 USD. The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange's incentive compensation. While we provide this range as general guidance, at ICE we compensate employees based on the skillset and experience of the individual.
